Re: Sick Days – New Change
The agency has reviewed the policy for accumulation of sick days for employees and is implementing a minor change that will impact a very small number of employees.
Currently employees earn 10 sick days each fiscal year (.83 each month) with no limit on the number of sick days an employee can accumulate.
Effective April 1, 2023, employees will continue to accumulate .83 sick days each month, however there will be a maximum accumulation of 80 days at any given time for full time employees.
Example below shows how sick leave accumulation will be treated once 80 days is reached:
Sick days at end of June 2023 | Earned for month of July 2023 | Sick days at end of July 2023 | Earned for the month of Aug 2023 | Sick days at end of Aug 2023 | Two days sick leave used plus earned monthly sick leave for Sept 2023 | Earned for month of Oct 2023 | Sick days at end of Oct 2023 |
79.00 | .83 | 79.83 | .83 | 80.66 is adjusted to 80.00 | 80 minus 2 days plus .83 = 78.83 | .83 | 79.66 |
There are very few employees who currently have 80 or more days of accumulated sick time. They will be notified by email separately.
