Tikinagan Signs Protocol Working Together with Community Partners in Thunder Bay

On April 10, 2026, Tikinagan Child and Family Services representatives gathered alongside the Children’s Aid Society of Thunder Bay, Dilico Anishinabek Family Care and Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (KIDO) to sign a Protocol for the Investigation of Child Maltreatment and Neglect. The new protocol aims to provide better services for children and families in Thunder Bay by working together with local community partners in the district.

The working partnership aligns with Tikinagan’s service model Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin, which means “Everyone working together to raise our children”, and reflects our commitment to working together to ensure the safety and well-being of every child that walks through our doors.

The Protocol for the Investigation of Child Maltreatment and Neglect has been created between Thunder Bay CAS, Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Tikinagan Child and Family Services, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (KIDO) and the Ministry of Attorney General, Crown Attorney’s Office, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Thunder Bay Police Service, Anishinabek Police Service, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique des Aurores Boréales, Office of the Chief Coroner – Regional Coroner’s Office, Superior-Greenstone District School Board.
