It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of one of our foster parents. Holly Mendowegan passed away yesterday in Aroland.
This tragedy touches so many people – Holly’s family and friends, the community of Aroland as well as our staff in Aroland, in our residential care unit and across the agency. Our deepest condolences go to all those who are affected by her death.
We encourage any staff who feel they need counselling to seek out assistance from elders, clergy, mental health professionals or traditional healers. Our clinical counselling unit is also available for debriefing and support by contacting Jason Willms to arrange this service through the clinical unit. As part of the agency’s Employee Assistance Program, services are available to any staff for debriefing and counseling available outside of the agency. Tikinagan is providing supports to Aroland and to the family, including the children in care who were in Holly’s care. Funeral arrangements are not yet completed.
