Hear Us Youth Survey Project

As part of their work to be a voice for youth and make things better for children and youth in care in our 30 First Nations, Noodawishinaam Oshkiniigiwag (Hear Us Youth) developed their own survey project. For this project, the youth team developed different surveys for workers, foster parents, and children and youth in care.

These surveys were created in hopes to better understand the current relationships between youth and their workers, and youth and their foster parents. With the results we receive, we hope to better understand where more support is needed for children and youth in care, foster parents, and our front-line workers.

The first survey was released in March 2025, and the second set of surveys, one for foster parents and two for youth, were released on June 10th. Currently, 68 surveys were collected from workers, 3 from Foster Parents, and none yet from youth. So, in order to increase reach and meet with youth in care, Hear Us Youth will be hosting two separate town halls:

  • Tuesday July 8th in Thunder Bay
  • Wednesday July 9th in Sioux Lookout

We hope with these town halls, we can share more information about the survey, our Youth Team, and most importantly, use this time for kids in care to meet, connect, and maybe make some new friends.

If you have any questions about the survey, please message the youth team email, youth@tikinagan.org.
