Please take the time to view and read my message about the Tikinagan value of respect, both in my language and the English translation. This is an important aspect of our Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin Service Model. – Thelma Morris

As we move through our busy days, it’s important to remember that at the heart of Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin is love and compassion. This is what our Elders have taught us.
Just as we care deeply about our own families, we bring that same level of care to those we serve. Whether it’s with a client or a team member, how we communicate is an opportunity to show kindness and understanding.
That brings me to a fundamental value of our service model: the importance of respect, especially when it comes to returning phone calls and e-mails. We all know how frustrating it can be when someone doesn’t respond to us in a timely manner, and we certainly don’t want our families to feel that way.
Throughout our work, we hold deep respect for children, families, communities, Elders, traditions and culture. We can demonstrate this when we return calls and e-mails promptly and thoughtfully, showing them that we value their time, their concerns, and, most importantly, their trust in us.
Every interaction is a chance to demonstrate respect—and ultimately, to build stronger relationships with our First Nations and their families. It’s often the small acts of care that can have a big impact on the overall experience.
Let’s continue to prioritize respect and ensure we’re delivering the best service we can.

Our agency is rooted in the fundamental value of respect. We have respect for all creation and we are grateful for the gifts that we are blessed with every day. Throughout our work, we hold deep respect for children, families, communities, Elders, traditions and culture. This respect is demonstrated through humility, a non-judgmental attitude, effective listening, clear communication, and recognition of the unique strengths of others.
