The following represent a snapshot of Tikinagan's activities from April 2010 to March 2011:
- We serve approximately 17,000 people located in 30 remote First Nation communities in Northwestern Ontario. We also serve Pickle Lake, Savant Lake and Allanwater and the First Nation populations in Sioux Lookout and Red Lake.
- Our head office is located in Sandy Lake First Nation and our Administration office is located in Sioux Lookout.
- We have approximately 30 offices in the communities and First Nations that we serve.
- Tikinagan workers handled 996 child protection investigations.
- At year end, 923 families were receiving service from Tikinagan.
- We had 605 children in care at year end, with 565 admissions and 529 discharges during this period.
- We provided 226,745 days of residential service for children and youth.
- We completed 177 home studies. At year end we had 403 approved foster homes.
- We operate two northern group homes: Oshkee Meekena Youth Healing Centre in Cat Lake and Oshka Teesuk Neehgan Healing Centre in Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug.
- We had 159 children in placements outside our jurisdiction, most requiring a higher level of care and treatment than we are currently able to provide. We continue to work towards increasing our capacity to provide specialized treatment and care in our communities.
- There were 217 serious occurrences reported to the Ministry this period.
- Tikinagan sponsored foster parent training workshops in 11 First Nation communities, with 78 foster parents attending.
